Imba Means Sing

Erin Bernhardt

Imba Means Sing is an independent documentary feature film following the story of Moses, Angel and Nina–three young Africans who have grown up in the slums of Kampala, Uganda unable to afford to attend even the first grade.

The film is stunningly shot and told through their perspective of being selected to be members of the Grammy-nominated African Children’s Choir and touring the world. On tour they raise money to fund their educations through university. Moses hopes to become a pilot, Nina dreams of being a pediatrician and Angel’s goal is to be Uganda’s first female president.

This character-driven documentary has three key objectives–one, to raise awareness about the need for universal education; two, the power of music and arts to overcome; and three, the differences and similarities of happiness and dignity across cultures. Imba Means Sing will change the way people think about Africa.
