Mette Lampcov

We Need to Talk is a photography and story collecting project about gender based violence and inequality against women world wide. The aim of the project is to open up a discussion and give women a voice who are survivors of rape used as a weapon of war, human trafficking, domestic violence, and genocide.

Mette has begun the project with work in Cambodia, Thailand, and Guatemala, photographing and collecting stories from survivors. She also works in the US. with immigrant farm laborers. All of Mette’s work is primarily done in collaboration with NGOs. When the situation is right, Mette also does photo workshops with the survivors – typically women living in shelters.

The project will have an exhibition and book as a witness and bring awareness to today’s reality.

Since starting the project, Mette has been invited to blog on the Huffington Post and has worked with Plan International, Cambodian Women’s Crises Centre, Madre, CAST, Lideres Campesinas, and CRLA and have connected with many other organizations regarding future collaborations.

The project hopes to help the women with whom Mette directly works and the organizations that support them by giving them more of a voice.
