Be Relentless

Brad Riley

In May, 2014, single mom, human trafficking survivor and ultra athlete Norma Bastidas broke the Guinness World Record for the longest triathlon by swimming, biking and running 3,762 miles (6,054 km) from Cancún, Mexico to Washington, D.C. During the 64-day journey that would take her through the capital of Mexico to the capital of the US, Norma’s path intersected innumerable paths of human trafficking and slavery.

Norma overcame great personal hurdles and incredible odds with one mission in mind—to educate the world about sexual violence and human trafficking, and inspire action to end this modern-day incarnation of slavery. Norma made this journey to empower survivors worldwide by demonstrating that one’s past does not dictate one’s future, and ultimately prevent what happened to her from happening to others.

Be Relentless is the binational, bilingual, feature-length documentary that follows Norma on her journey to break this record and change the world. Norma’s story of triumph is also a call to action for communities to stop exploitation before it starts and equips communities with the tools to respond.

Be Relentless is paired with a multi-media prevention curriculum offered in both English and Spanish. And proceeds from the Documentary will be used as funding opportunities for survivors. Be Relentless is an ambassador project with the United Nations (UNODC).
