Over 20% of the world’s fresh surface water is in the Great Lakes, and the region supports a $4.6 trillion economy. Simply put, it’s the most precious resource and it’s severely under appreciated. Demand for fresh water is skyrocketing and by 2050 nearly half the world’s population could face severe water scarcity.
DRAIN has evolved from a search to uncover a little-understood but massively important issue–the falling water levels of the Great Lakes. DRAIN utilizes dozens of interviews with key opinion leaders like Sen. Carl Levin, researchers from NOAA, USGS, Army Corps of Engineers and real people with deep connections to the lakes.
